If you have the furnace cranked at this time of year you might be sneezing alittle bit more than a few months ago. What is happening is that your furnace is just pumping out billions of parts of dust, mold and for someone like me cat hair.
So the most obvious solution is to move somewhere warmer where you don’t need a furnace. Well if that one won’t fly because of some excess Christmas shopping I’d suggest you hit the stores one more time and pick up a new heavy duty vacuum cleaner.
It sounds crazy but its true. You need to clean more often to catch all the dust and dirt from flying around your house. Do not just look for any old vacuum. Make sure it has some special features that help combat allergies and small dust. Kirby vacuum parts have some special features that are designed to help anyone who suffers from allergies.

Right now is the time to be looking for a new computer system. The prices are nice and low and retailers reallly start to get nervous when January arrives. They know that all those units sitting on their shelves should have been moved during December.

One area to watch out for is the printer. Because it has the greatest potential to cost you money in the long term. Avoid ink jet printers at all cost because they will end up costing you money. With the end of the year rapidly approaching it contest deadline time for many folks. I’m not talking about some winter escape to Mexico. No at the end of the year almost all publications have some sort of year end review contest.
In the past I’ve looked forward to all the different photo contests. Plus the advertising annuals are great because they contain ads and ideas for many small campaigns that you might not see in your local market.
One of the newer yearly contests involves Web design work from various companies. Again these contests can be interesting because there is no way that you can see all the great content being created by all the web designers. Some of the best entries come from smaller markets or regions of the world were you would never think that good web design is generated.

One of my neighbours has taken the dive into the independent business world by opening up a restaurant. He knows what he is doing in the business world in a money and finance sense. But the restaurant world is so different.
Something like over 50 per cent of new restaurants fail in the first year. I can see why after a trip down to his store. He’s still getting ready to open but he has already had some problems with his industrial refrigeration equipment.
See this is were his experience in the business world collided with the reality of the restaurant world. He had saved several thousands dollars by buying something that was used. No big deal it was installed and working. It broke down after one week but he didn’t seem to care because the folks who installed it offered a warranty.

One of the toughest jobs going is riding on the mean streets as a bicycle courier. Yes everyone has a story about some rude courier who gave them the finger. But most couriers have a tough time out on the street trying to make some cash.

For some reason it was now my couriers friends fault that the door flew open and he crashed and broke his collarbone. Wow. At this time of year many folks are looking at their yearly budgets and wondering where all that money went. For some folks its just a matter of picking up another shift or waiting for the year end bonus to help smooth out those financial ripples.
But if you are older finding that extra cash can be difficult. And if you are retired and living of a fixed income from pensions finding that extra income stream is impossible. One thing that many seniors do is try and cut back on expenses and sometimes they cut out their life insurance policy payments.
It makes sense in some situations but a better solution would be some sort of life insurance settlements from one of the companies that offer this service.

I have several friends who are attending university or college in the USA right now. Part of the university experience for plenty of people is becoming Greek. No I do not mean they take out citizenship from Greece, its that they become part of a Greek organization. Most of them have joined or are linked up with a fraternity or sorority.
I think they joined more as a method of meeting some new folks. The usually classroom experience for newer students from out of town does not really lend itself to meeting new people. I noticed one change when everyone came back for Thanksgiving. They all had some Greek clothing. Its just their way of showing other folks that hey I’m joined up with some other folks.
